FINNISH OVERFLOW
A unique design
The processes of swimming pool design and construction involve a number of decisions which will subsequently influence on its features and the aspect of water.
One of the main points for discussion are the skimming and filtration of the surface layer of water: There are two systems: the skimmer system and the “Finnish Overflow” system.
Through its technical team of highly qualified engineers, Culzoni has developed both systems, which are completely different as regards complexity.
In 1994, this company designed and manufactured the first Finnish overflow grid. In 1995, it constructed the first swimming pool using this system which from then on has been continuously improved.
The Finnish Overflow allows water to skim off the top surface of water and into the filtration system, always keeping the surface perfectly clean and discarding almost completely the use of the common leaf nets.
Under the overflow grip there is a gutter which extends around the perimeter of the swimming pool. This gutter receives the water overflow produced by the filter system pumping.
That gutter is covered by a grip which allows water to pass through it. This grip is made of a special material, designed to make the gutter resistant to sun’s rays and water action. It is an anti-slip grip and has special measures.
To facilitate its placement, the underlying surface has a slight slope toward the inside of the swimming pool. These systems require special research, since certain hydraulic calculations are necessary, such as: surge tank dimensions, pipes diameters and other specifications.
Culzoni’s team of engineers makes all these calculations in order to assure the clients that the equipments are operating correctly and that their swimming pool will be sparkling clean.
The “Finnish Overflow” has the advantage of offering a collection area which is complemented with the collocation of non-heat conducting and anti-slip pool decks and border tiles.
